I tried to sign up at Knitty as, of course, knittyme, but it wouldn’t allow that name so I’m wondering if calling myself Knitty Me in the world of knitting blogs is a mistake. I suppose I could come up with something different, and I wouldn’t want to be stepping on anyone’s toes. Plus, I’m unhappy that I can’t run Google Ad Sense on WordPress and being that I’m on a Mac, I am unable to upload a custom header. Annoying! What to do, what to do. Seeing as I have possibly three readers, I could wait on this but I’d like to get settled where I’m going to stay, know what I mean?
I know what you mean, I can’t put buttons on the side of my blog & I don’t know wether to change or not.
Hey! (You must be a fellow LA-er as well!)
What I found out when I first started blogging is that some of the themes have headers that you can customize and some don’t. You would need to scroll down through the templates to see which ones you can modify. It’s a pain — I had to do the same thing, but in the long run it was worth it.
I hear that there isn’t as much traffic on WP, but I have to say, that I tried blogger for a couple of weeks and didn’t like it at all. The categories are great on WP and their server works really fast. Also, I get a lot of hits from other feed sources.
So, welcome to the knit blogging world (I’m new to it too!) And I hope you have fun knitting up in the valley! (There are a couple of shops I heard wonderful things about in addition to Stitch Cafe…)

Hi. Just found your blog by reading the tag surfer on WP. Do you use Safari as your browser on your Mac? If so, then try Firefox instead. (Free to download from mozilla.com). It gives you the proper toolbar for writing your posts and might help with the problem of uploading a custom header (not that I’ve tried that as the template I use doesn’t have one).
Why not email WP about adding a Google Adsense widget. I’m sure that it would be useful to a lot of people.
